This project is one that just needs time and perseverance. When Petra's Dad was stationed in New York as a journalist, he wrote letters home to his mother (Petra's paternal grandmother) every week for close to three years. Petra has most of those letters passed onto her by her Dad once her grandmother died at 100 years of age.
She is typing them out with the intent of creating a small book called 'Letters from New York' or something like that. It is a newsy, yet folksy view of New York from a dad who was also a journalist. Sprinkled in amongst the family news are references to current events of the time, weather, and thoughts of life in New York.
